Best Local Film Poster

PASKAL (2018)

A poster should be something that enlighten people about the objectives of the film. An attractive poster could attract and make people curious to know more about the film. In my opinion, this poster give me goosebump because it really represent the PASKAL itself.

PASKAL is a shortform for Pasukan Khas Laut, which is based on the true story. In this poster, they combine all of the element from sea, land and air. The designer want to tell that PASKAL is a special unit that not only assign to save the country from the sea, but also from the land and the sky.

The focal point is on the main character, Arman playing by Hairul Azreen. Plus, this film are based on Arman story. As u can see, the designer put some opacity to Malaysia flag on the top left of the poster to tell that PASKAL were originally under Malaysia team. They were fighting for the sake of their loving country.

As the tagline, 'Antara keluarga dan negara...', this shown that PASKAL need to sacrifice their time and energy with their family to protect the country. I also attract with the font used. I think it really suit the genre they bring.

Fantastic Beasts : The Crimes of Grindelwald

Did you see the wand there? I could feel the wizard vibe through this poster. Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald are the second sequence to Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark Wizard, Gellert Grindelwald (Johny Deep) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne).

In the second sequence, Grindelwald escaped and has set about gathering followers. His agenda is to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to against Grindelwalds's plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlist his former student, Newt Scamander, who agree to help, but unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.

As you can see, the focal point was on the main character, Gellert Grindelwald, where it has strong connection with the tittle. In the poster, his position was facing the other wizards. Which is shown that the main character will be concurred the storyline. They also put the magical element to express the wizard vibe.

The tagline "Who will change the future?" make me curious to see more. According to the J.K. Rowling, Fantastic Beast is the era before Harry Potter era. It make me thinking is it they were mean by Harry Potter or Newt Scamander, the hero in Fantastic Beast era. Or is there another hero will come up to save the future?

In addition, I also love the font that they used to show the magical element. Overall, this poster make me curious to see how the story will be going.
